VT Girl Healing evolved as a means for me to heal from the traumatic effects of a toxic marriage, and to unearth the person I knew was hiding underneath a lifetime of abuse and neglect.
Born months too soon, I was abandoned by my biological father, and raised by a mother with undiagnosed mental health issues and a heavy alcohol abuse problem. As a teen-ager, I was sexually molested by a family member, and raped by a friend.
I suffered significant reactive attachment disorder symptoms. Anxiety and major depression were consistent players in my teen and adult years.
I survived through two long-term marriages to toxic men plagued with severe mental health and substance abuse histories.
I decided I had no other choice than to rise.
I am a clinical psychologist working in private practice. In my profession, and in my daily role as a mother, building self-awareness, insight, and advocacy for the greater good of a person is a constant agenda. It humbles me to say I have only recently done the hard work that it takes to completely get out from under the devastating effects of punishing and abusive relationships.
My goal? The healthiest relationship I can possibly have with MYSELF.
My journey into healing led me in some surprising directions, starting with the creation of a scantily-clad Instagram page. I have since then taken up snowboarding, pole dancing, burlesque dancing, developed a love for independent travel, and renewed my interest in writing.
As VT Girl Healing, I've revealed vulnerability of both mind and body. I had to dig deep to reclaim what was rightfully mine - confidence, sexuality, humor, trust, courage, creativity, passion, and freedom.
Your journey may be different, but whatever you have to break down in order to build again, I encourage you to do so. It's absolutely worth it. I'm finally living authentically to my natural state of being, and I've learned to love myself first, fiercely, and forever.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope the challenges I went through and lessons I learned can be a building block for others working toward healing.
We can rise above.
We can heal, no matter how life tries to break us, as long as we are willing to face the storms we become.
