In Greek mythology, the Phoenix symbolizes immortality, resurrection, and life after death. Only one Phoenix exists at a time, and when each sensed her demise, she would build a nest, set it on fire, and be consumed by the flames. A new Phoenix would rise from the pyre.

Eternity. Strength.

Rising from a journey through fire or adversity.

I couldn't think of a more appropriate symbol to wear on my back for the rest of my life.

Every once in a while,

an event,

a person,

a moment in time

has an extremely harsh and difficult impact on us, seemingly threatening our well-being.

The intensity of

that event,

that person,

that moment

becomes all-consuming of our attention.

We search outside of ourselves to find reason or blame for our pain. And while there is knowledge to be discovered in doing so, true learning and growth happens when we turn the focus back where it belongs.

The spotlight has to be on ourselves for insight to develop, and that is where the power resides. Instead of blaming the world for our hardships, we must determine how we contribute to our own prolonged suffering. We might not be able to effectively change our circumstances, but we can certainly challenge our perspective.

Do the work.

Love yourself well.
